- Crisis event and persistent stresses affect the entire family. Family process mediate the impact of stress for all members
- Protective process foster resilience by buffering stress & facilitating adaptation. Maladaptive responses heighten vulnerability & risk for individual & family distress
- Family’s potential could be maximized by encouraging their best efforts & strengthening key processes
- Generally family has capacity to withstand and rebound from adversity, strengthened and more resourceful. All individuals & families have the potential for greater resilience
- The capacity is a dynamic process encompassing positive adaptation within the context of significant adversity. The key idea is that of SUCCESSFUL ENGAGEMENT WITH RISK
- Families develop basic strengths & capabilities designed to foster the growth & development, adaptation and protect the family from major disruption, stressors and strain following a family crisis or major transition & change
- Family belief system & the role of religion are main aspect of family resilience
- Families benefit from & contribute to the network or relationships & resources in the community, particularly during periods of family stress and crisis
- Family need support and intervention in appropriate ways to monumental task of rebuilding lives and livelihoods
- It is not only physical rehabilitation and reconstruction activities, but also rebuild family resilience & family strength.
